ABOUT PERURAADHEENAM
The Perur Aadheenam has the legacy of being part of the Kailaya Meikandar Guru Parambarai. It has more than 500 years of history attached to this Aadheenam. The Velliengiri hills in Coimbatore is known as the "South Kailash" or "Then Kailayam". The Nageshwara temple in the banks of the then Kanchimanadhi (now known as Noyal river) is the first place of spiritual importance ( Mudal Aruthalam in Tamil). Then comes the Perur Pateeshwarar temple as the second and the third place of spiritual importance is The Shanthalinga Peruman Thiru Kovil in Perur Aadheenam. This is the temple where Shanthalinga Adigalar was blessed with the divine scene of Lord Shiva and Parvathi as "Ammai & Appar" on the Nandi.
The Aadheenam was started by the great Guru Saint Shanthalinga Adigalar in the early 17th century. It has been the source for learning Tamil and Saivisim from great masters through the years. St. Ramaswamy Adigalar again revoked the Aadheenam in early 1900 and helped the society by establishing educational institutions for helping people understand the great Tamil Saivite culture. The Aadheenam serves people through religious, societal and educational services as part of its dharmic services.

The Aadheenam has helped in restructuring and maintaining a lot of Shiva temples in South India. The Aadheenam through its medical services has helped many needy people in the surrounding villages to get good medical care. Now the Aadheenam is working on building a Multi-Specialty Hospital named " Perur Aadheenam Seervalar Seer Shanthalinga Ramaswamy Adigalar Trust Hospital" in Mudalipalayam, Near Annur, Coimbatore District.
